Description
The Advanced Rolling Thin Film Oven (RTFO) is a precision-engineered laboratory device designed to simulate the short-term aging of asphalt binders under controlled heat and airflow, replicating the oxidation and volatilization effects experienced during mixing and laying processes. This aging simulation enables accurate measurement of viscosity, durability, and other performance indicators in accordance with international testing standards.
Built to comply with ASTM D2872, AASHTO T240, and EN 12607-1, the RTFO features a high-precision convection heating chamber that maintains uniform temperature distribution at 163°C (±0.5°C). The oven is equipped with a rotating carousel that holds up to eight standard glass sample bottles, ensuring consistent film thickness and exposure during the 85-minute test cycle.
A digital PID temperature controller, along with an integrated airflow regulator and monitoring system, ensures optimal aging conditions and reproducible results. Constructed with double-wall insulation and a corrosion-resistant stainless steel interior, the oven is engineered for durability and long-term reliability in high-throughput bitumen testing labs.
